Full Moon in Capricorn July 9th, 2017

In the early morning hours of July 9^th, 2017 we will experience a potent full moon in Capricorn. Full moons highlight the energies of the current lunar cycle (beginning with the new moon in Cancer on June 23^rd), and not all full moons are created equal.   This moon is on the Cancer/Capricorn axis – bringing awareness to our need for security through nurturing emotions vs. our need for security through external achievements. All full moons occur on an axis of opposites - where Cancer and Capricorn sit in your chart will give you more information about what specific area of your life is being highlighted at this time.

This full moon occurs in conjunction with Pluto at 18° Capricorn. Pluto rules the underworld and as such, brings us to our depth. With depth comes intensity. The sun is currently in Cancer, increasing emotional sensitivities. This extra nudge from below may be felt quite deeply for some.   The lessons of Pluto teach us to reclaim our inner power, take ownership of our transformations and surrender to the process. Flickers of this pending shift may have been present on July 2^nd, when Pluto opposed Mars and brought awareness to power dynamics in our lives- where we need to take responsibility for our directness (or perhaps assert ourselves more) and where we need to surrender our control.

Finally, we are also in the midst of a tense aspect between Jupiter and Neptune, in Libra and Pisces respectively. These two have similar values and ideals, but don’t always know when to say when or how to determine between reality and illusion.   With the Moon in Capricorn, the sign of hard facts and bottom lines, we may come face to face with those illusions that are not serving us.
